Wye
River Rising steeply from a sheltered valley
Wye River provides a unique experience along the Otway
coast. Suspended high on the heavily forested slopes,
boutique bed & breakfast and self-contained accommodation
give a bird's eye view over the beach below and along
the distant coastline.
A haven for bird watchers; revel as the riotous colour
and noise of the parrots and Rosellas explodes around
you or quietly observe the Cormorants, Herons and
Egrets as they glide gracefully over the ocean and
swoop to fish in the shallows.
A watchful eye is at times rewarded with the spectacle
of passing sea eagles, dolphins and whales.
There is adventure too along the river and in the
surrounding forest where walking tracks provide access
to cascading falls, peaceful fern gullies and native
wildlife. Echidnas, Koalas, Wallabies and Possums
thrive in this area.
Wye River also has a magnificent beach and river
flats where swimming, fishing and surfing are enjoyed.
From the rocky outcrops or the mouth of the river,
Salmon, Whiting Bream and Mullet can be caught.
Serviced by a store and post office, two caravan
parks and various accommodation, Wye River boasts
a great family pub with a friendly environnment and
superb aspect overlooking the ocean.
From camping to luxury living, Wye River caters for
all in a special way.
