Glen Aire & Hordern Vale Accommodation and Locality Information
Glen Aire & Hordern Vale Settled in the late 1800s, the small community of Horden Vale lies close to Cape Otway, above the Aire River valley. Flanked on the ocean side by the Otways National Park, the community consists of farmhouses, holiday cottages and a local hall.

Three kilometres south lies the Aire River mouth. This estuary, emanating from one of the oldest rivers in the world, was home to the Katabanut (King Parrot) Koori people, until their massacre in 1848. The estuary is one of the most intact in Australia, with vast tracts of water reeds and incredible ocean and forest birdlife.

Swimming is safe, fishing is fruitful, while canoeing is an excellent way to experience the sheer tranquillity and beauty of the river and estuary wetlands.

There are a number of walking tracks in the area, including the Great Ocean Walk along the spectacular coastline.
