Saturday sailing was probably one of the best sailing
days that we have had in a long time, easterly wind
of 15 knots provided some exciting sailing for everybody.
It was a pity a few more of our regular sailors were
not there as a great time was had by all.
Pete Geekie ,Stewie had a great tussle with Gary and
Matt all day, also the keel boats were in fierce competition.
John Marriner is going to have to get his crew from
outside the warmth of the cabin and onto the side
of his boat, if he is to get a bit closer to Bill
Gross and crew. Trying to get John’s crew out
of the cabin is pretty hard especially when Bruce
Thomas brings thermos of hot tea and slices of fruit
cake to share.
Best effort though goes to Peter Bourne and daughter
Ella in their 470 who were sailing a great race in
difficult conditions only to capsize and limp back
to the Harbour. It was a great effort by the both
of you. Keep up the good work. Also good to see Paul
Johnson back on the water in his Sabre.
In every club there are behind the scenes people who
keep the show running and we have been lucky in the
past to have several people. One of these is Sandra
Skene who is there at our club house every Saturday
collecting race fees ,radio contact person and general
gofer, thank you Sandra. And thanks to our sponsors,
in particular the Mobil Service Station for you ongoing
support.
A reminder that the Learn to Sail program gets under
way this Saturday, and the following week the annual
Crayfish Cup will be held over 2 days.
Race results:
1st Tumbleweed
2nd Not Your Average White Boat
3rd Sweat shop
4th Jubilation
5th Interlude
Life is good be happy come sailing
