| Tell
Tales 15th April, 2006
Over Easter we ran two races, one on Saturday
and one on Monday. Both days gave us fresh and gusty
winds .
The keel boats were in their element as a blowy s/sw
wind 18/20 knots with higher gusts prevailed for the
day. Only two dinghies took to the water – Matt
& Gary in Sweatshop and Captain Col & Doug
in Miss Molly -very borderline conditions for both
of them. Matt & Gary had to retire because of
a rudder that would not stay in the gudgeon and pintal
[ better look that up in the dictionary].
Out of the keel boats Pete Depeller and crew on board
led all the way around the course .
On Sunday again a fresh gusty north wind, ,this wind
is the most frustrating to sail in. Winds up to 20
knots plus then they die down to nothing, with wind
shifts making it very difficult to sail. This time
Pete Depps did not have it all his own way with Matt
& Gary in a different boat this time, the Diamond,
taking line honours.
Not long after we got back on a shortened course the
wind really came away with 25/30 knots.
It was a good couple of sails, with the weather getting
in to a more winter pattern. Lets hope for a good
day for our last race day on the 29th .
Winner for the 2 day race was Peter Depeller and
crew.
Also good to see Nick Martin out on the water before
he heads north, ably assisted by Victoria. Good sailing
on your way up.
This week end we have the infamous A.B.S.C Hot Dog
Stall at the Music Festival. Looking forward to seeing
you there .
Thank you to our sponsors who have supported us over
the season.
LIFE IS GOOD. BE HAPPY. COME SAILING
