March, 2007
Who could believe it for the third week in a row;
we had good sailing weather after such a bad January.
15 knots from the East greeted the fleet on eight
boats that left the Harbour this long weekend. The
Club’s two fireball’s, Not Your Average
White Boat (Geeks and Stew) and Champagne Jam (Matt
and Bourny), had left town to venture across state
to Gippsland to attend the Fireball State Titles.
With four Flying Fifteens, Sista Mermaid and three
cruising yachts it was a good day for sailing.
The Flying Fifteens had a fine time in the conditions,
Windswept (Lids and Leo) put in an absolute blinder
and led Town Bike (Shayne and John), Miss Molly (Capt.
Colin and Doug) and Zappa (Randall and Paul) from
start to finish. Sista Mermaid mustered a crew short
on experience but full on enthusiasm. Especially as
Marg and Susie had shanghaied Pete from his morning
windsurfing to come sailing.
La Boheme provided the quote of the day; as on her
first passing of the Rescue boat a cry was heard “There
are seven Commodores on this boat”. No wonder
Mrs Millar snr did not enjoy the day out. but Jeffers
enjoyed being at the helm no doubt.
Tumbleweed had its usual complement on board but has
Bill given up on that asymmetrical sail or will be
out again. Interlude’s crew must know that her
hull needs a good clean or why else have they all
but disappeared, leaving poor John and Laurie to have
to break in a new chum of Bill’s to the joys
of slow sailing (Sorry John – but you were dragging
more than your feet around the course)
Results Are

2nd La Boheme La Boheme
3rd Town Bike Town Bike

Tool of The Week – goes to Sandra on the Recuse

this week for St Pat’s day (rumour has it will
be a Starboard course, Green Flag)
