Interlude

They are the crew from Interlude
They’re serious sailors, they don’t sail “in the nude”
The boat is rigged and they’re ready to sail
Even when there’s waves, rain & hail.

Bob does the tactics, John steers around,
Both hoping like hell they don’t run aground.
Bernie & Bruce bring all of the eats
Leaving young Kerry to steer & trim the sheets

It’s the start of the race and the Ancient Marriner declares
“Those Flying Fifteens are fast, we’d best take care”
They tacked and gybed and looked the part
But, bloody hell Bob! , they missed the start.

Now they think they’re on starboard, at the back of the fleet
So they get out the tea & biscuits and have something to eat.
They spy all the boats and sit in the sun
Thinking this is great. Sailing is fun!

Then Bernie says “Check out Windswept, that wonderful craft.
The way Lids & Leo sail her, she is a work of art!”
Bruce returned from down in the hold
And said “She’s not like the boats of old”.

Bob, who was scratching that nasty old rash
Said that Windswept was having quite a bash.
“Look at them go, they’re fast with a kite,
If we’re not careful, they’ll give us a fright!”

Skipper John said “Let’s go for the reef, this is for real.
And we’ll pretend to be looking at the seals.

They tried really hard, but their efforts were in vain
Lids & Leo had lapped them again!
Now through the finish and open the bar,
cursing “those sailors in Windswept are the best by far”

They are the crew from Interlude
Maybe they should sail around in the nude!!
