2. Apollo Bay Harbour, Safety and Environment Management Plan
A report has been prepared by consultants at the Colac Otway Shire. A risk rating for the club house and surrounds has been nominated as “high” this is the equivalent rating to the 20,000 litre diesel tank situated near the low landing. John Marriner pointed out his concern at such a high risk rating and the possible consequences in future planning for the sailing club. Russell and John are to meet with Ranjani Jha (port Manager) to discuss this issue.

3. Yngling Program
John Tabled his concerns (see attached). These are principally
• who is organizing the crew from week to week,
• the on-going costs, who bears these?
• what expectations do sailors on the Yngling expect from us, and what are our expectations of them?
Responses
Ian Leary:
outlined the positives and negatives from his experience from the Blue Ingling. In short Ian explained that it had generated considerable interest in sailing from new members for little cost.
Matt Armstrong:
Secondhand sails are available are appropriate for replacement and are available at very little cost. Only significant costs to date are antifouling, mooring fees. Rigging and maintenance expenses to both Ynglings have been covered by the individuals involved. The total cost of maintaining the Yngling program are likely to be substantially below the cost of running the wooden dinghy’s in the old LTS program which the club fully supported. Week to week crew is coordinated by Matt and Angelika at present. Currently there 7 adults interested in sailing on the white Yngling. Priority is to have the boat sail regularly. Consequently it’s a ‘first in’ system operating
John Marriner:
Happy with the response and happy that there is a semi formal program.
4. Yachting Victoria Sailing School Visit
Thanks to the School Staff and students for the learn to sail program. Thanks also to P Geekie, J Marriner, S McBride and G Millar for their help during the learn to sail days. The program was an unqualified success and generated considerable interest in sailing from the community.
Wednesday nights
General discussion indicated that demand is there for a social sailing program on Wednesday nights. The obvious difficultly is the labour to run such a program.

Meeting closed 9.30pm
Next meeting: Wednesday 5th December at C J Keane’s.
