Letter - May 2008
Our sailing season is over for the year, we must ask
ourselves where did it go. A few low points with the
drifters early in the piece then a smattering of good
sailing days.
As commodore must thank the committee for their work.
Everybody put in a big effort over the season, and
for those who were not on the committee a big thank
you for contributing to the little bits and pieces
that go into making a small club function year in
year out.
The Try Sailing Days run by Peter Geekie, Matt Armstrong,
Peter Bourne, and Colin Coleman were an overwhelming
success - a big effort from everybody.
The raffles at bottom hotel organized by Margaret
Findlay and Suze McBride were another success, well
done girls.
We again ran our hot dog stall over music festival
which was a huge success. This money goes to paying
our public liability and other insurances for the
year. Thank you for your help with this event.
Our presentation day will be on the 25th May at midday
at the Krambruk room [ yes this is a Sunday at midday].
All members, partners, Try Sailing people are welcome
to attend No doubt you will be wondering who won what
in which race series. Well you will have to come along
and find out. See you there.
Without sponsors all clubs find it hard to function,
we are no different. Thank you to Mobil service station,
Beachfront Motel, Power Drive Marine, Leo Di Cecco
Plumbing, and J & C Marriner Earthmoving for their
ongoing sponsorship, and to the top and bottom hotels,
and the bakery for their support.
Also in closing our A.G.M will be held at the Krambruk
room at the bottom hotel on the 18 July. You will
receive prior notices for this meeting.
Believe me it makes life a lot easier for everybody
if everybody just does a little bit instead of overloading
a few people. This is your club so be a part of it,
come along and help.
Life is good, be happy, come sailing.
Russell Smith, Commodore.
